I have had many versions of French Toast over the years but none that was just the same as what Dad used to make. The secret was in the cooking I believe.
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
sprinkle of Cinnamon
1 Tsp of Cream of Milk
Some soft Italian bread sliced approximately a half inch thick.
Beat eggs in a bowl until it begins to froth. Add cream and continue to beat. Add vanilla and cinnamon and stir until blended.
In a frying pan or electric fry pan; Cover bottom of the pan with a good grade olive oil and heat to about 350 degrees. Pretty hot!
Dip bread into the mixture soaking it completely and shake off excess. Then place them into the hot oil. You will need to tend them continuously to be sure that they do not burn.
Cook until golden brown and the turn over.
Place on a wire rack covered with Paper towels and place paper towel on top.
Serve hot with your favorite topping. Mine is peanut butter and syrup.
Enjoy
